Everything Is Working Great Now!
TALES FROM THE BRAT FARM
I'm home and feeling really great. I know my leg is finally working INTERNALLY the way it should have. My skin is not tight like it was before and my toes don't look like bloated sausages. I can also FEEL more in my feet than I could. I know that sounds weird but I thought my neuropathy was worse than it actually IS. You don't realize how much you depend on the feeling in the bottom of your feet until you start to lose that. BIG things are more painful than they would be if your feet were reacting normally. Some small items you don't feel at all. It's what makes neuropathy so dangerous. You can injure your feet and not feel it at all. It's how I got the wound in my heel that took so long to heal. That was from stepping on a piece of metal on the floor of the garage while I had no shoes on. I never felt it due to neuropathy in that foot AND the fact that it was on my heel at a strange angle. It was very bad by the time I discovered it (and had gotten larger I believe). I tried treating that myself but it was beyond my ability to treat successfully. But I digress.....
The doctor told me that my surgery ended up being more complex than he believed it would be due to a couple facts. #1-the area that needed clearing out was directly above my bypass. #2-when he clamped off the area, the clamp caused something they call clamp sickness and I have a feeling that meant something like it started to die off due to the lack of a blood supply. #3-my artery was in a very delicate condition overall but they ballooned the area and then used a stent to strengthen it all. It was it being located directly above the bypass that created the biggest problem but he said they did get it all back together and it is probably in better shape than it was before this surgery. All I know is that I feel GREAT! The improvement in the way that leg feels is incredible.
I got my flu shot while I was in the hospital but.....get this! They were OUT of the pneumonia shots.
I have to make an appointment with my family doctor to get that once I figured out that my last pneumonia shot was six years ago. They only last five years. I'm covering all my bases here.
Well, although I was told to take things easy for the next two weeks while this incision heals, I want to vacuum my room and then use the rug cleaner on it. I'll do it a little at a time since the doctor used that skin glue on the incision. It feels strange but, judging by the way my neck healed, it's got a lot of things going for it. The scar it leaves is amazingly small (thin?) and the doctor says it will start to shrink, little-by-little. We shall see.
Love you all. Thank you for any prayers you may have said for me. I hope your week has gone well and you are enjoying this crazy weather.
