It Was A Shock!
TALES FROM THE BRAT FARM
Chewlee got a gold medal for being in the 50 Letter Club. From what Chewlee told me, it requires her to be able to say her whole alphabet twice without a mistake. It's a big deal in Kindergarten I guess. Chewlee's teacher texted the Princess to tell her about it so she could make a fuss over Chewlee for making the Club and getting the medal.
Chewlee has gotten four smiley faces in a row now this week. I think she likes getting them now because it makes her life more fun for her. If she doesn't get a smiley face, she gets no cartoons and no NickJr games for that day. She loves the NickJr. site because if she doesn't play a game, she can watch the videos of her favorite shows instead. They are the full shows, too. My big disappointment with the channel now (and the videos online) is that they have commercials. They used to be commercial free. I'm an idiot to think THAT would continue. Oh well.
Good news on my Buick. It seems the factory issued a *recall* of sorts. The onboard computers all required re-programming due to a transmission issue. (Hurrah!) We only had to pay for a part to something else (I forget what it was) so our bill came to just under $150. We were seeing the possibility of a $1500 or more bill to repair whatever was wrong with our transmission so we were happy...hell, we were overjoyed....to pay the $150.
It didn't take them long to get the repairs done so we went and picked up the car this afternoon. I swear, it actually drives better than when we first bought it. The Beast took it for a drive and filled it up with gas and agreed with me on that. I'm just glad it's fixed. I want to be able to drive it to Chicago this summer.OH....HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!! Hope you had someone that loves you that sent/gave you a nice card/gift/both. I was hoping for a nice bottle of Mudslide or something. Nope. But I still have my orchid from the Princess and Chewlee from last year. Chewlee loves that I still have it. She doesn't realize that it will bloom again so that will be a surprise to her this summer. The Beast has never been *into* any Holidays (he barely acknowledges our Anniversary) so his not giving me anything was NOT a surprise. I think he WAS surprised that *I* didn't give him anything, though. He's such a self-centered person. Sheesh. Last year he gave me a big box of candy but that was only because the displays were all over the store. He LOVES chocolate. *I*, however, am diabetic. What the hell????? He ate the whole box by himself.
Chewlee was shocked and happy because I went to the store today (By yourself, Grandma?? How did you get there? You can't drive.) AND I remembered to buy a big jar of kosher dill pickles. She loves them. (Who doesn't?) But she still doesn't believe that I can drive without a big toe. Good grief. What in the world will she think when she meets someone who has lost a leg and has an artificial limb who drives?? She still has a lot to learn, don't ya know? I didn't do much in the way of shopping because my hip was out and it was very painful to walk. I really think it's my sneakers. I guess I need to make my appointment with the prosthetic doctor and get a replacement toe and a pair of shoes. I was surprised to see that the new shoes offered are incredibly diverse. They all don't look like nursing shoes any more. There are even HIGH HEELS!

It was a really nice day today. It started out crappy but the sun came out and it warmed up to 61 degrees.
I know! It's only supposed to get up to around 55 tomorrow but even that is shocking. It's mid-February, for cryin' out loud! I could get used to this.
It's down to 37 degrees now and may get as low as 34. I'm taking no chances. I turned on my little heater to warm up this room. Even the Beast (who is still in a great deal of pain because he won't listen and take things easy) turned on his little heater to take the chill out of the air in our bedroom. I don't care about that part as long as there are enough blankets and/or comforters on the bed. I'm sleeping in my recliner, however, while the Beast is recovering. I leave my door slightly open so Baron can wake me if he needs to go out or if something is wrong with the Beast. He's decided HE is the Beast's nurse. I think I told you about that yesterday. Love you all. Be good and please stay warm.
