A Real *Duh* Moment!
TALES FROM THE BRAT FARM
Chewlee was in hog heaven today because the Beast and I had shopped and gotten several things that we knew Chewlee liked to eat. So, when she got here, she got her usual milk (Grandma, I am SOOO thirsty. Can I have some cold milk or water? I'd like milk best if I can have it!) plus a dill pickle spear. Then she had some salsa and chips along with some salami and she topped it all off with some grapes and another glass of milk.
Chewlee made a list of things we had to do, which included her bath later and that's where the *Duh!* moment comes in. We both forgot that today was Tuesday. Tuesday her mom is at school but doesn't work after she gets out of her class in Athens so it's one of the *early* days. She doesn't take a bath here on Tuesday.
When her mother got here around 5:30 or so, I heard Chewlee run out there and say, *Mommy, why are you here so early to pick me up?* Her mother said something that sounded like she said she wasn't here early to pick her up....and Chewlee got excited and ran back into my room to tell me her mother wasn't here to pick her up. The Princess came in and said, *Oh yes, I'm here to pick you up. What I was saying was this is TUESDAY and it's my regular time to pick you up.* That's when I felt really dumb.
It wasn't bad enough that I missed my doctor's appointment (again) but then to forget THIS, too> color my face red. I'll see my doctor tomorrow at 8:45 am at his Guntersville office so it's not a total loss but I felt really bad about that. I overslept but had this nagging at the back of my mind. On a hunch, I checked my corkboard and, sure enough, I had an office visit scheduled. I missed the one last week. When his nurse called me later, I played dumb. You know...*Oh no! I had an appointment today, didn't I?* Phew! They bought it. Sometimes it's okay to be an old person....LOL.
The Beast had a taste for some chili salsa so I did the Velveeta cheese/Rotini tomatoes and green chiles recipe for him. I grabbed me a bowl of it, too, once it was all melted and still hot. Yum! A neighbor of ours brought us over dinner. She had made chili and the Beast played his *sick* card and she dropped some off for us. It smelled wonderful. I had made some mac for it...just in case and it's a good thing I did. It was very juicy. I was surprised that it had these tiny kernels of corn in it. It was VERY filling and tasty but I like my own (of course). I still feel very full two hours later and I ate no crackers or bread with it either. The mac was carb enough. I didn't even finish that. The Beast said the same thing; it was very filling to him, too.
I'm tired (and full) so I think I will take a short nap. Love you all and I am still praying for those affected by H. Sandy. Be good, drive carefully and be happy.
