  • The Beast And His Eye Surgery...Part#3

    TALES FROM THE BRAT FARM

I never imagined doing three blogs about the Beast's eye surgery but, when we were talking about it last night, he told me that he had been awake while it was going on.  He actually saw the doctor cut away a big chunk of his skin/meat from one of his eyes.  I think he meant he saw it being moved from his eye area to a tray and it was just a quick glimpse of it.  He said to the doctor, *OMG!  Was that MY skin?*  The doctor told him yes.

His looks have not improved yet and the one eye that had the chunk taken out of it is still not open.  When he tried to open it, it looked to me like he had a huge blood clot underneath it.  I have to wait to talk to the doctor to find out if we can buy some saline solution and flush out that eye or what.   He CAN open his right eye so he's able to watch TV.

He tried sleeping in the recliner last night but just couldn't fall asleep for any length of time.  He finally gave it up and went to sleep on our bed with two big pillows under his head.  He doesn't understand how I can sleep on MY recliner.  I told him that his disability and mine were just very different.  My recliner is now *fitted* to me after all this time.  However, last night I went into the guest room and went to sleep.  I was so worried about the TV bothering the Beast because you could hear my TV through the wall where his recliner is located that I figured I would sleep there.

I was kind of surprised that Baron came into the bedroom and thought he snuck up on the bed with me.  I was really half-asleep so I didn't yell at him.  He crept next to me and laid his head on my thigh.  He was still there, asleep, when I woke up around 8am.  I got off the bed, quietly, so as not to disturb him.  I saw the Beast wasn't in his recliner and went to the bedroom.  He was on his side, the two big pillows still under his head and he was sound asleep.  He didn't wake up until it was around 11am or slightly afterward.

I took a good look at his eyes.  His right eye you can see is very slightly better but his left eye...oh lord, it's huge, puffy and so black and blue!  It's starting to turn a bit yellow in spots so he really IS scary looking.  My DVD player came and he actually went to the door in all his glory to get it from the UPS delivery guy.  I give him credit for not reacting badly.  You could tell he was startled a bit but he never asked what happened.

Gotta go put the ointment on his stitches.  Love you all.  Have a great day!
