It Jusst Never Ends.....
TALES FROM THE BRAT FARMWell, today the Beast bought us a new hot water heater. I just knew it. He can find more ways to waste money. All because he believes that our current one has got to have about a foot of scale and crap on the bottom of it, which means the heater works very hard to heat up the water because it is underneath all that stuff.
I can understand his concern but....with all he has bought this month, it's like a HUGE investment that we really didn't need. Know what I mean? BUT.....I will say this much. He did some research and found out many of the new hot water heaters are incredible. They have a lot of cool new features, including stainless steel heating elements and remote control temperature setting.
He got the 50 gallon size that I said we might as well get for when we DO have company, like the grandkids who seem to use up a LOT of hot water. **Sigh** I remember how it was when I had four teenagers in the house. It was never-ending. The showers I mean. And, OMG! The towels! I don't think the washer and dryer ever stopped because they couldn't hang up a towel and didn't think one should be used twice. My sister, Cee, would come over and automatically put a load of towels into the washer while she waited for me to get home from work. Bless her heart. I don't know if she ever really knew how I appreciated her back then.
So, the Beast was already tearing apart the box he had built around the hot water heater when he lifted it up off the ground and insulated the hell out of it. Some field mouse obviously had a bunch of little ones in there at one point which was evidenced by the sheer amount of mouse turds he vacuumed up with the shop vac. But it had to have been one of the ones he discovered in his traps he set because it did NOT have an occupant now. So, the next few days he will be busy with installing the new heater. It's going to take a bit more work because it will clean itself automatically when it senses it needs doing so he has to allow it to drain outside the *box* he will have around it.
This one will automatically lower itself once WE *show* it our normal routine and calls for hot water. I told the Beast I never expected to have a hot water heater that THINKS and PLANS. Think about that.
Today was a good day with Chewlee. She played her Mahjong Safari, which she calls the *block game*. She told me she was *really good* at it. I had to laugh at her self-satisfaction but I am glad she likes it and she really IS good at it. She even plays on the *normal* level and not *easy* at times. She attempted *hard* and discovered it really IS harder. There are also a lot more tiles.
She took her bath and I put her in some pajamas so she will be ready for bed when she goes home. Her mother closes tonight and she has to be up early tomorrow morning. I believe she has to be in class at 7am. Icky poo!!!
The Princess rented a new house the other day that they will be moving into gradually until she has a day off. It's a modular home (no wheels) but seems like a double-wide trailer to her. She said it's ugly on the outside but really nice inside. I remember the modulars they put up in Tamarac (Florida). Those were pretty ugly, too. But it has a screened in porch the owner put on the front. It's a 2 BR, 2 BA and that means Chewlee will have her own bathroom. The Princess loves the fact that the Master Bedroom bathroom has lots of cabinets and drawers in it. It's a LOT cheaper than the apartment they have been in and is bigger, too. It will help her budget since she is juggling school and work. She will be a math teacher in less than two years now and I am very proud of her. It hasn't been easy but she is a work horse. Not a lazy bone in her body.
Love you all. Oh, and I am sorry that there didn't end up being a post on Sunday. I did one but....as happens from time-to-time, it disappeared into hyperspace and I didn't notice. Color me embarrassed here. My sister, Bee, was the one that called it to my attention. She got worried that something might be wrong with me. But, I am fine. Just bad feet but even those are getting better.
So, be good, have a few laughs (it's therapeutic) and a wonderful day.
