  • So Tired....

    TALES FROM THE BRAT FARM

I've read a lot about sleep deprivation and I know that I am suffering a bit from that.  It's the reason I can't seem to stay awake for very long.  At night, when I would dearly love to close my eyes and sleep for 7 or 8 hours in a row, the pain from my feet (mostly the right one, which was most seriously injured) keeps me awake or else it awakens me and prevents me from going back to sleep.  This is usually after only 2 or 3 hours of sleep.  I get up, take a pain pill if the pain is severe or else I take a few aspirin.  Sometimes I just collapse in my recliner and try to get a different angle to my feets positioning and try to grab a bit more sleep.  Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't.  In the meantime, I am hobbling around like some truly old woman with swollen feet and trying to keep from screaming because A) the bottom of my feet hurt like hell and B) I am so incredibly tired.

After several days of this, I usually am in a state of almost total collapse and I crawl into my bed before the Beast even notices (often with him on his computer, playing a game or searching the internet for something or other) and I fall dead asleep for whatever time the gods allot to me on that particular night.  Usually, those are the times I finally get a decent amount of TIME asleep, but not necessarily good sleep.  It does, however, keep me going for a while in the endless round-robin of pain cycles.  What  is annoying is that it is usually after these extended sleep times that my feet feel the best they have in many moons.  It just doesn't last.

I find myself at that point in time where I am probably going to drop, exhausted, into bed early and I am praying that I get some great sleep.  I have scads to do and just can't manage to get the minimum done that would make me happy and help me feel like I wasn't a total slacker.  I asked for prayers and I would appreciate anyone that remembers to keep them coming.  This has been dragging on for much longer than I think it should have.  It's almost six weeks now and that's the amount of time the doctor said it should take me.  Well, to be honest he hedged a bit and said, *....six weeks OR SO...* (emphasis mine).  I feel like it would be a major miracle if I woke up and found myself both pain-free and healed.

I lost my internet last night due to heavy cloud cover.  We didn't even get any rain!  After an hour, waiting for it to come back on, I gave up and went to bed.  Not that my time there lasted long (2.5 hours), but it was so nice until the feet felt like someone was touching them with electric wires.  It took forever before they stopped long enough for me to drop off in the recliner.  My feet were very swollen when I woke up but I massaged the excess fluid out ot them.  That doesn't last but feels good for a while.

I don't think the heat and humidity helps, either.  It has been hovering in the lower 90's, humidity in the 80 percentile and has just been miserable.  I hope you are doing better than we are in that department.  Anyway, I had to reset my modem and was having a bit of a problem so I called the techs at the satellite company.  After about 15 minutes of them doing this and that on their end (we had no real problem), it finally had all the lights lit and nice and steady, too.  Been fine ever since but it's one of the reasons I have come to hate satellite internet service.  Being out in the country like we are, we have few choices.

Love you all and I wish you a good work week ahead.  Be kind to everyone.  We all need it.
