  • Chewlee Drops By And The Beast Is Now Sick

    TALES FROM THE BRAT FARM

The Beast has resigned himself to just having pears this year and we hope some cherries.  He's given up on the peaches and apples.  He cut down the apple tree with the fire blight and got rid of it.  He took out the root today.

Weird but our little dogwood tree that didn't seem to grow at all has suddenly shot up and gotten nice and full.  Even the dogwood planted next to the deck has gotten taller and fuller but the little one amazes me because it really just took off in the last couple weeks.  Weird.  But it looks so pretty.  I think it will look wonderful next spring when it blossoms again.

Chewlee and the Princess came by today.  The Princess actually bought me some mudslide for taking care of Chewlee this past weekend.  I let her stay overnight so the Princess and Johnnycakes (I think it was him anyway) could go out.

Chewlee told me they went to the beach for her birthday and her shoulder was bleeding....ROFL.  She got a bit of sunburn on her right shoulder even though the Princess used that new spray that is applied to wet skin and works.  I'm not sure how she got the sunburn on that shoulder but she made me be careful when she hugged me.  The Princess was on her way home to make dinner and Chewlee got all upset because she kept asking for *five more minutes* but, when it was up, she kept saying it again.  I finally bribed her with a sucker (a red one..LOL) and gave the Princess a couple more to take home with her for later (without Chewlee knowing I did it).

Chewlee was given the choice of the beach or the zoo and picked the beach because it was so hot out.  It was probably a smart thing.  They went to a kind of private type lake and the Princess said she could put her beach chair in the water and Chewlee played in it around her.  She had her floatees on both arms so she was fine as far as she was concerned.  The Princess, who has never gotten a sunburn in her life, got some yesterday at the lake.  I was .  I kid you not that she had never had ANY redness EVER.  She has the type of skin tone that just normally gets tan with very little sun exposure.  Just shows you how brutal it was in just four hours at the lake. It did hit 95 degrees here and it looks like that's what is going to happen all week longl

When the Beast woke up this morning, he had a crusty eye and felt nauseous.  I suspect he may have pink eye.  At least that's what it looked like.  Luckily, I have some medication for it and he started using it.  It sure can't hurt.  It didn't help his nausea or his diarrhea.  He still felt awful this evening when he went to bed.  He's going down to Gadsden tomorrow to get his drivers licence renewed.  We only got our licenses a few weeks apart but I had to check to see when my license needed renewing and it's good until next year.  Strange.  Even the Beast was puzzled but, hey, what can you do.

His chemo starts this Thursday.  I told him he needs to call the hospital to make sure they got their supplies so he doesn't waste another morning.  I hope he remembers the name of the gal he talked to last week because the main operator at the hospital just isn't that bright.

Got to run.  I need to get to bed so I make my doctors appt. tomorrow morning.  The Beast is taking the truck and leaving me the car since my ankle is still a bit sore and it's easier for me to drive.  Love you all and I hope you have a great *hump day*.  Having the holiday on Monday  sure makes the week seem to fly by, doesn't it?  Be good and smile a lot.  It's good for you and takes fewer muscles.  You don't want a face full of lines, right?  ''
