So I'm Sitting Here, Enjoying The Silence....
TALES FROM THE BRAT FARMThe Beast and Baron headed out this morning around 9:30am and hit the road for southern Illinois. Right after they left, I went back to bed because I had a headache. I thought it had left with the two of them but, alas!, that was not it. I only slept for an hour but I got up without the headache. I then decided to just sit back and enjoy my day without constant interruptions or a demanding dog's nose in my face or butt. It's been heaven.
I really thought the Princess had told me that I would have Chewlee for a few hours until Johnnycakes got off work but she never brought her over. By the time I noticed the time, I knew she was at work so I couldn't even call to find out what was what. I'll find out tomorrow, I'm sure.
I suppose it could be that Johnnycakes didn't have to work or got home early enough that she didn't have to bring her over but it sure would have been nice if she had called me to let me know. I had my plans.
I love when she's here and the Beast and Baron are away. She is so cute when she takes over the Beast's recliner and TV. You would think she was queen of the hill. We still had a couple of the movies she picked out to watch. I was even going to show her how the popcorn machine worked since she is so fascinated with it. But...it will keep for next weekend when she is here.I feel like I should be doing something wild and crazy to celebrate but it's not quite warm enough in the house to run around naked with scissors.
So I guess just having a mudslide and some expresso will have to do. I love the contrast of the cold and sweet with the slightly bitter bite of the hot expresso. It's not anything the Beast likes so I seldom indulge when he's here. The Beast made a trip to Walmart yesterday to pick up some milk for me since he said I would need it, especially with having Chewlee here. Oh yeah! Like he really cared if I had to or not but it did give him a chance to pick up some snacks for him and Baron for their drive. He came home with a huge bag of M&M's, two big bars of Harshey's Special Dark Chocolate, some Maple nut treats and something else that I don't recall. Trust me, as he pulled them out, I could feel myself in a sugar high just looking at it all. It's a wonder HE doesn't have diabetes! He took half a bag of dog bones (a BIG bag) with him so he will have lots to share with his brother's two dogs. We call them *Baron's cousins*. One of his brother's dogs can actually open the back door out into the yard when no one is paying attention. It wasn't fun for them during the winter. The dog has a double coat and loved the snow and cold but they didn't like how cold the house got in a very short time!
I really like the style of the house they live in. When you are inside, it feels like an A-frame but doesn't have that look from the outside at all. At least that's fewer windows to worry about cleaning. But the fireplace is central to the living area. The loft bedroom is spacious. Downstairs the master bedroom is huge with it's own bathroom and laundry area. There's another bedroom just to the back of the fireplace but actually at the front of the house. There's a huge walkin pantry area adjacent to the bathroom. There's room enough in thee for another washer and dryer if you want and also has the hot water heater located at the far end. The deck at the rear of the house is monstrous! It's not covered but you have plenty of room for whatever you want to do. It's big enough to fit about four or five tables with umbrellas. You have a view (or did until they fenced it for the dogs) of the lake down the hill. Oh, it's not a panoramic view because of all the trees in the area but it's enough to give you the feeling of lakeside living.
The big problem with the house is the construction. The deck was added on and it's obvious that they had no clue how to go about doing it. Parts of it are sinking and it's pitched in other areas, mostly along the side of the house. The Beast says he's going to help his brother re-do it this summer. I'm not going to hold my breath over that one and I hope his brother doesn't either. He's been promising me that he would expand our deck for three years. Now that his brother is retired and living in the new house full time, I'm wondering what excuse he will use to get out of helping HIM.

Well, I think I am going to go take a nice long bath. That's another thing I seldom get to do when the Beast is here. HE takes them almost every day and always has a fit when I want to take one because it drains the hot water tank, he says and that gets expensive. It's always okay if HE does it but my doing it costs us money somehow or other. I get tired of hearing it. But, with him gone, the hot water is ALL MINE!!!!
It's the little things in life that make it enjoyable.I'm not sure whether or not to celebrate or sit down and cry. I got my Medicare card the other day and it's effective on June 1st. That means (SOB!) that I will be 65, of course and it also means that I don't have to worry (much) about getting sick or possibly needing surgery. I'll be covered. It's been ages since I actually had coverage by a company that wasn't based somewhere in Canada or Europe, I swear. I started out with one company that ended up being sold twice that I am sure of. I have no clue if they are any good or not but I have definitely been thankful to be fairly healthy. I have to make a trip down to the bank to be certain that they will not be paying out any more money to them as of May. I finally found the most recent letter from them so that I can notify them that it will be the last time I pay them. I'll make sure they know the bank is getting a copy of the letter and the reason behind it will be specified in it, too.
Well, time to go luxuriate in the bathtub so I will get this posted for later. Love you all and I hope you had an enjoyable weekend and an even better week ahead. Remember to drive carefully and watch out for the other guy. Smile a lot today. Confuse the hell out of everyone around you.

I recommend that you hop over to Facebook and check the princess' posts to find out what Chewlee was up to today. LOL. You're going to have something to write about.
OMG...I almost had a heart attack when I read what Chewlee did. It was too late to call the Princess but I will tomorrow after her class to find out how bad it was. Her hair is so beautiful! And she's right. Chewlee has never done anything like that at all. She hasn't -uieven gone for a trim or even watched someone getting a haircut. Thanks for the heads-up. Love ya.
