  • My Boo-Boo Baby....

    TALES FROM THE BRAT FARM

Chewlee actually looked better than I had imagined when I picked her up from preschool today.  She has two spots, one next to the eye and the other under the eyebrow, where she split the skin open somewhat.  It looks like she had stitches put in it (the way those things look, if you know what I mean) but she didn't.  I also found out that she got a rather large (about 2.5 inches) scratch on her back.  Chewlee said she got it when she fell out of bed.  Must have been on some piece of furniture or other.  The Princess didn't even know about that because it wasn't something that Chewlee complained about.  The eye had to have hurt like hell but it wasn't real swollen like I imagined it would be so she was very lucky.

She was in a cute mood today.  She wanted to *fall down* which means climb in my lap facing me while I grab her hands and she bends over backwards until her head touches the floor.  Then I help her come back up and she giggles the whole time.  I swear, she could do it forty or fifty times and still not tire of it.  The time just whizzed by until the Princess showed up to pick her up and Chewlee still wasn't done.  She told her mother she had to do it *one more time* and then she would be done.  She lied.  She had to do it twice!    She got down and told her mother she was *ready to go now!*

The Beast announced that he thinks *he's about ready to make that trip down to Florida*.  I think the next real hard cold snap will send him packing.  He said *they are having the kind of warm weather he enjoys now*.  That made me laugh.  He'll bitch about it if it makes him break into a sweat AT ALL.  And it will.  All he has to do is be directly in the sun and it will suddenly be *brutally hot* even though the temperature is only 78 and there's a nice breeze off the ocean.  He is just never happy.  But, I'm used to his bitching and it goes in one ear and out the other.

So, I did the laundry (again) and am almost done getting everything hung up and put away.  Tomorrow I will mop my floors (out! damn spots  ) and just start nudging him along to make definite plans.  Even if it DOES mean I'll be stuck driving the truck, it would be nice to have the house to myself (well, Baron would be here, too) for a while.

It DOES mean that the Beast will have to mow the lawn before he goes because he's anal about that and it gives him time to think over what he's going to be doing in Florida so he can make sure he takes what he needs with him.  He will be charging all his batteries and throwing those chargers in the trunk in case he needs them while he's gone.  He will check and double check his supplies and hand tools.  All of this is *just in case* he has to take a hand in something because he doesn't like using someone else's tools.  But, I can understand that part.  Not all technicians spend the money on tools that he did and still does.

Well, time to get this posted for you to read later.  Love you all and I hope you have a great day.

  • Monster Movie Buffet!

    TALES FROM THE BRAT FARM

Ahh!  What a day if you are a monster movie gourmand!  I think this weekend has seen every vampire, Frankenstein, crazed doctor, creepy crawly and scary movie made since the 1950's craze started.  All it lacked was my favorites....the Japanese monster movies (Godzilla, Gabara, Mothra, Rodan, etc.).  However, those are not really scary, are they?  At least, not the Japanese versions.

I saw Vincent Price movies that I haven't even thought about for years...The Tingler (remember that one?  Scared the chit out of me back when I saw it in the theater and my seat was one of the ones that vibrated at the right time to make me scream!), The Mad Magician (with Eva Gabor ) and probably most of the ones he made from 1952 onward.  The Halloween movie series was on, Ghostbusters 1&2, Alien (and the sequels), Predator and all the movies that came out of that one, too.  It was heaven for all the scary movie buffs around.  I spent most of my time jumping between movies because it was like a buffet....there were movies on that I wanted to see but they were on at the same time.  Unfortunately, I don't have a dvr so it was click back and forth.  But I still had fun.  I stayed up as late as I could to catch movies that were put on very late so young kids couldn't catch them but that was really dumb because now I can't even remember which ones they were.    Shows you how tired I was!

I found out today that Chewlee is wounded.    Yep, she fell out of her mother's bed and split her eye.  I haven't seen it yet but I guess I will tomorrow.  She's fallen out of bed here, too, a time or two but onto carpeting that hasn't seen a lot of traffic.  Best of all, she usually has her *tee-tee* clutched to her and it's shielded her face from injury.  Actually, I'm pretty sure she ended up butt first because that was the area Chewlee complained about when I would rush in and comfort her.  It was never her head and she never had a bruise or a bump on it.

Knowing the Princess, she had to have freaked.  She doesn't do well with any part of Chewlee being bruised or bleeding.  Plus, it can be difficult to get Chewlee to let you take care of the problem when she has just a scraped knee, let alone when she is actively bleeding.  It's not easy with her and I don't doubt they both were a mess when they finally got back to bed.  I have a feeling Chewlee didn't get to go out trick or treating so I guess I will have to send her home with some of the treats we have here.  We got NONE!  The neighbors took their kids to parties and that was that.  Guess trick or treating may be one of the *rites of passage* out of childhood that is going down the tubes after all the lethal candy scares of years past.  Oh well.  I so enjoyed seeing the costumes, especially on the little ones.  *Sigh*

At least Bratfink got some trick or treaters.  For a while, she was worried that all those kids out playing on their street after school had vanished but then they started trickling in.  She noticed that cars were stopping out front so I guess *kid friendly* houses must have been few and far between but there are still a few die hard parents around.  They want to see their kids have a bit of fun and will go that extra mile to make sure they do.

Well, Van Helsing is on with Hugh Jackman and I want to see it (again...LOL).  Love you all and I hope you have a great day.  Stay warm and drive carefully if you are still working for a living.  Be happy.
