  • Is This Hell? Or Just Practice?

The Beast had to run out early this afternoon and almost died of shock when he checked the outside temperature.  106 degrees.  Not heat index...actual outside temperature.  That was verified on weather.com and with my weatherbug.  I won't even go into the heat index.  Suffice it to say, there was very little going outside.  I made a short trip down to the mailbox across the road and then met the Princess and Chewlee out in the driveway when she was dropped off here.  The Princess DID have to work today (she has off tomorrow...Thursday) but Chewlee had to be picked up from preschool when she became ill and started vomiting.

Since the Princess has our truck while she's waiting for her car repairs to be finished and the Beast was out driving around in hell, the Princess had to run to the school, drop Chewlee off to me and then run back to work.  No sooner had Chewlee sat down when she barfed and started crying.  It was all bile.  The school told me she had hardly eaten any lunch and, what she did eat, she barfed up shortly thereafter.  She had to have been feeling poorly right from the get-go.  She didn't have much of a fever, just a bit over a degree and she was very lethargic.  She barfed a time again later then almost fell asleep.  When she got up for a bit, she seemed a lot happier and said she wanted some noodle soup.  She only ate half of it but that was better than being hungry.

I had tried, earlier, to give her a popsicle and she really wanted it but then only ate a little and gave it to me to put back in the freezer.  I knew she wasn't feeling good at all then.  That is definitely NOT our girl.    Within about 20 minutes, she was barfing up the noodle soup and complaining that it was *nasty* and *disgusting*.  The barfing part she was talking about.  She was upset that she vomited her noodles and I have a feeling she won't be asking for them again for a while because of it.  When she said her mouth hurt, I tried to get her to swish around some water in her mouth (or some juice) and then spit it out to get rid of the bad taste but she wouldn't do it.

When I got her to lay down on the couch, she curled into a ball and I asked her if her stomach hurt or was she cold?  She told me she was cold so I got her ti-ti (blankey) and put it over her.  She uncurled after just a few minutes.  I told the Princess when she came to get her to keep her from getting chilled.  I may end up with her tomorrow if she's not feeling good because the Princess has a drs. appt. in Huntsville tomorrow.  I am hoping she feels better because I hate to see her feeling bad for any reason.  But, I am heading for bed shortly since the Princess will have to drop her off very early then.

More of the same weather tomorrow so keep us here in your thoughts.  We could sure use a break from this heat.  Nothing is really getting done because it's just too dangerous to do anything outside for more than five minutes or so.  Love you all and you keep safe and cool, too.

  • We're suffering the same fate, though only in the 90s, but today our humidity was 98% - worse than Miami. High 80s tomorrow, but much better humidity. We had the 3rd hottest and 4th rainiest July on record. We've already had several inches of rain this month and more 90s with high humidity coming in for the weekend. This has been an awful summer. All I can say is, stay cool!
