Down And Dirty Time!
TALES FROM THE BRAT FARMI have to go pick up Buttmunch tomorrow in Huntsville and I am so looking forward to that. I can stop at Publix on the way back and pick up a few things I need/want which I mentioned yesterday. I was also told today to make sure and tell Buttmunch that she is expected to make her spinach dip for us so we will have to get the ingredients for THAT while we are out, too.
Today is the day I had to get down and dirty about getting ready for guests. I was putting fresh linens on the guest bed and decided, since that room is the coldest one in this house, that I would use my electric blanket the Beast got for me last year on it. I always worry about people being cold. Even as a kid, I used to get up during the night and check all the kids and the newest baby in the house to make sure they were covered. I remember when Bratbaby was just a few months old and I found her soaking wet from her diaper. I turned up the gas space heater we had for heat in our house (so the blower would go on) and changed her into dry clothes. I then changed her bedding but had to dry her blanket in the heat of the space heater since I couldn't go into my mother's room for a clean one. It didn't matter. Once I put her back in her crib and put the warm blanket on her, she went right to sleep. I was just glad she had been cleaned up and had a dry diaper and nightie on.
Since our weather has been kind of up and down temperature-wise, the electric blanket could solve any problems with that. But I can't find the darn thing. At least not with a cursory look. I'll have to get out my step stool and take a good look on the shelf where I am pretty certain I put it. That way they will have the quilt, the electric blanket and the spread on it to make sure they stay warm enough during the night.
I spent almost three hours cleaning up my computer room and guess what I found? I almost died when I did. The first present I bought for Chewlee!
I know...I couldn't believe I didn't miss it when I was wrapping all the gifts. It's the laptop learner I got for her. So I have ONE more present to wrap for Chewlee. I love all the presents under the tree. It looks so neat to have all those pretty boxes under it. It's going to look very naked when they are all opened and gone from it. But, right now, it looks so great!
Chewlee's paternal grandfather ended up buying her a *dollhouse* that is actually a little playhouse. It's big enough for Chewlee. Johnnycakes actually put it all together (I have no idea where but it wasn't at their house) and he's going to take it apart to get it home and set it up for her. That is probably what he will be doing after Chewlee goes to bed Christmas Eve. I know she is going to love it.
It's still early (kinda, sorta) and I have lots more to get done to get ready for Buttmunch to be here. Love you all and I hope you are having a great time getting ready for the holidays. Hope you get what you want the most and have friends and family to enjoy it with. For any Jewish readers, Happy Hanukkah! I always thought the Festival of Lights was a cool one. Love those traditions, don't you?
