  • Is It Just Me?

    TALES FROM THE BRAT FARM

It was cold today...in the mid-30's and the Princess showed up around 8:30am with Chewlee.  She looked so cute.  She had a long-sleeve turtle neck on with *Alabama* in maroon embroidered on it.  She also had a cute tunic top on in the Alabama colors (maroon and a dark blue) with blue jeans underneath it.  What she reminded me of was the college cheerleaders.  She also knew she looked cute because she stopped to admire herself in the full length mirror a couple times.

She was talking quite a bit today and I was so proud of how clearly she was saying her words.  Well, it was clear to me but not to the Beast.  So, I told him he should clear his ears out because I've been hearing the improvement for quite a while.  But afterward, I was thinking that maybe it was ME and the amount of time I spend with her that makes the difference.  Maybe to someone who isn't around her as much her speech isn't as clear as it is to me.  Maybe it's a *mommy* thing we get.  Except....Johnnycakes told me that he can understand her a lot better lately.  Of course, he's around her and he's attentive.  Unlike the Beast who really spends very little time with her.  I really wonder.......

They are saying we might get some snow tonight.  Not much but any is more than enough.    The Beast wants to go to Sam's Club in Huntsville tomorrow and I figured why not?  We are out of a lot of stuff we usually keep stocked up.  When I have to buy tuna at regular store prices, it makes me shudder.  Especially since I buy the albacore.  Buying it in bulk makes it a lot less expensive per can.  Since we have some extra money in the bank, he will probably go crazy and our pantries will need redoing...again.  But my cabinet in the garage is about 1/3 full so I do have room to store some stuff out there.

I'm having a tough time finding a place to keep my empty boxes from the Christmas stuff.  It seems like we had more room out in the garage last year than this year.  I was looking around and realized that the Beast has a lot of stuff out there that was in the barn last winter and that is making a difference.  If we have one more decent day before the real cold sets in here, I am going to make him take it back out there and get it out of our way.  He will be doing some woodworking this winter if he ever gets some room.  He's promised me another set of shelves (in a frame that allows it to be set up on the wall) and a shadow box for my little Arabian perfume bottles that Mustachio bought for me when he was in Saudi Arabia while in the Navy.  Of course, I won't hold my breath on that.    If it's for ME, he generally puts it off.  If it's something HE wants, you would be amazed at how quickly he can get it done.  I'm used to the neglect after all these years.  But, he will eventually run out of his projects and turn his attention to mine.  THAT is when I will get my stuff.

My poor DVD's are kind of stuffed into and on the shelves he DID do for me two years ago.  But I have definitely run out of room.  If I had another set of shelves, I could arrange them the way I really want them.  Alas, now it's just stick 'em wherever there's space.

I bought the new Harry Potter movie and got to watch it later that same day.  When it ended, I was a little blown away at what a *dark* movie it was but I am drooling for the second one to come out now.  To cheer myself up, I watched the Wolverine movie that was all about his origins.  VERY interesting but kind of sad, too.  I do adore Wolverine.  I know I mentioned that yesterday but....I didn't go into any real detail about my reactions to them.  I won't tell more in case you haven't seen them yet.  But both are good movies.

Oh, when Johnnycakes came to pick up Chewlee today, he found both of us asleep in my recliner.  I wasn't sound asleep because I heard him come in and then he said, *Oh sleeping beauty!*  I opened my eyes and laughed.  Chewlee was tough to wake up enough to get her socks on her feet (she won't leave them on) and then her jacket on her.  She snuggled up to him and we both knew she was going to go back to sleep as soon as she could.  I'm glad they only live about 5 minutes away.  He was going to put her down as soon as he got her home.

I'm loving my new desk.  Chewlee didn't react the way I thought she might but she definitely loves that the drawer I keep *her* pens in is lower and she can see them all easily.    She still insists that the chair I am in is *Papa's* and she went looking for mine.  The Beast already has it in the back of the truck to go to the dump on Monday.  We have a lot of other stuff that he's going to get rid of at the same time, mostly large boxes that he doesn't want to have to cut up to fit in our bin.

I'm still freaking out about this town not recycling.  Yet the town's to the north of us all do.  I just don't understand it.  This town is big enough that it would be worth it to the town to add some needed cash to their coffers.  They drink enough soda, beer and liquor alone.  I've seen the same people shopping and buying large quantities of soda every week.  I mean a couple cases of it!    And I thought *I* drank a lot of soda.

Well, time to get this posted for your boredom.  My life has got to be a bit boring for some.  We don't get out a whole lot and we sure don't know any celebrities.  I appreciate the audience however and I thank you for coming back.  Love you all.  Hugs and I hope everyone has a wonderful Holiday.  I know I am going to have a nice Christmas and a peaceful New Year's (as usual).  If you celebrate Hannukah or some other holiday, I wish you a great one also.  Be good.  Smile often and be sure to tell those you love that you do as often as you can.  Life is short so enjoy it!
