  • The Shit Just Never Stops!

    TALES FROM THE BRAT FARM

It seems like it was just yesterday that I was talking about the Beast and his damn non-stop consumerism.  Oh wait!  I think it WAS just yesterday (or the day before).  That was the coffee grinder.  Today it’s a new coffee maker just for the coffee that he grinds for a great, special pot of coffee.  I kid you not.

I have no idea what he paid for it.  He smuggled it into the house so it was a fait accompli by the time *I* saw it.  Believe it or not, he bought a very special Mr Coffee coffee maker.  It has the looks of being an effort by said company to delve into a more expensive line of coffee makers.  It’s actually a very nice looking coffee maker.  It has a permanent coffee filter in it that allows the coffee to drain through the sides of it unlike our Bunn, which can only drain through a hole in the bottom of the filter holder.  Which is a good thing since the grind he makes seems to congregate up along the sides of the basket filter.  It also has a carafe that is a much better one than our Bunn coffee maker has.  It seals up tight after you pour your coffee and release the button that allows the coffee to pour out of it.  Unfortunately, it is smaller in the amount it holds.  It says it holds 10 cups (but I think it’s only 8 cups) versus our Bunn which holds 12 cups.  I feel like banging my head on a wall but feel it should be HIS head that’s banged.  So now we have two coffee makers taking up space on my limited counter tops.

He’s bought a couple bags of the Dunkin Donuts coffee beans plus another brands Arabica (Columbian) coffee beans.  Oh, and lets not forget that I also have the electric coffee bean grinder taking up counter space, too.  <<bang, bang, bang>>  AND, to top it all, *I* am the one that loves my coffee.  He will have two or three cups over the course of the day while I go through several POTS of coffee myself.  I love the Walmart brand Columbian coffee and my Bunn works just fine with it.  I use an insulated cup that holds the equivalent of a large cup of coffee you can buy at any decent gas station or fast food place (I bought the cup two years ago and love it, especially when we travel).  It has a central hole in the top of it’s carafe and I have learned to put a teaspoon over it along with one of our kitchen *rags* to help keep the coffee hotter for longer.  I wouldn’t mind a carafe like the new coffee maker has that worked for my Bunn but you can’t have everything.  Oh, now wait….that’s MY feelings, not the Beast’s.  It sure seems like that is what he’s trying for.

The Beast went to his urologist’s today for his appointment.  He has two small spots in his bladder because it’s been caught early.  The reason it’s been caught early is the bleeding is coming from his prostate.  It’s enlarging and the veins supplying blood to it are like varicose veins that start leaking because the prostate is enlarging is how the doctor explained it.  His surgery will probably also include removing the prostate.  The Beast told the doctor, *Get rid of it.  It’s not like I’m using it any more.*  He’s not kidding on that part.  It’s been a long time since it’s function has been a part of OUR life.

We won’t know when the Beast will have his surgery until the doctor is able to check his surgical schedule and call us back.  I imagine we will hear from him tomorrow some time since I believe he normally schedules his hospital procedures on Thursdays.  I’ll let you know when I find out but I imagine it will be soon.  The doctor gave him a prescription to help start reducing the size of the prostate.  The good news is that the blood test for free cancer cells has gone down one full number.  I really have no idea if that’s really good news or just hopeful because of catching the cancer in the bladder early.  I’ll find out when I have a chance to talk to the doctor when the Beast has his surgery because we were told his TYPE of bladder cancer was aggressive and virulent.  He was also told there wasn’t a cure for it other than removing his bladder entirely and the Beast will NEVER allow that.  He doesn’t have the kind of personality that would allow him to have to drag around a pee bag and not be able to control when it’s released.  I’ve seen young people that have those (bless their hearts!) and they can be held at many unobtrusive areas these days unlike when my great-grandfather had to carry around a glass jar that was very, very visible.  That was back in the 50′s and much has changed nowadays.

We are having a spate of good, warmer weather here in the SE part of the US of A.  Even Mustachio says his area of KY is having the same.  He’s hoping Buttmunch and her new hubby take advantage of the next few days and get on the road to the Amish village.  If they left tomorrow, they could get to it by some time on Saturday and before the rain and cold move back in.  But Buttmunch is talking about not leaving until Friday, which means they would have to suffer through rain and cold (in their tent somewhere) before they ever made it. But, that’s their choice.  I’m just saying….which would be smarter?  Oh well.

Time to get this posted.  I fell asleep due to being afraid of OVERsleeping and up most of the night.  I DID wake Chewlee so she could watch the Orangutan program but I looked over at her and she was sound asleep in my recliner.  It made me laugh.  I let her sleep for that 45 minutes until she HAD to wake up.  I did it slowly and in a fun way.  She was laughing because I was doing slow and gentle tickles.  She woke up laughing.  She got dressed and watched a little bit of cartoons on Papa’s TV then shut it off and joined me on the front porch to wait for the bus.  It had rained and was just a little chilly outside.  I was sitting on the stairs with my coffee.  She sat with me then ran down the driveway and attempted to wheel our (emptied) garbage can back from the end of the driveway to it’s space by the garage.  She made it halfway because she couldn’t quite master tilting it towards her so that only the wheels remained on the ground and it is easier to push.  We’ll work on that so she can feel useful.  That kind of stuff makes her happy.

Love you all.  Hope you live in an area that’s going to get a spate of good weather for a bit.  Winter is far from over regardless of what Phil the groundhog had to say.
