  • The Day With Chewlee

    TALES FROM THE BRAT FARM

The Beast had left for Birmingham before Chewlee and I woke up.  He had run to Hardee’s to pick up biscuits and gravy for our breakfast.  He left it out on the table for me to find when we woke up.  I saw it and thought that was sweet of him to be so thoughtful.  Chewlee ate cereal because she’s not a fan of biscuits and gravy and I cut up a huge strawberry in her cereal.  That didn’t make her happy because she prefers her strawberries whole but I showed her that they taste just fine with the milk.  She just didn’t like the cereal to *interfere* with the taste of the strawberries.

After that, it was put her cartoons on the big TV.  I gave her some apple juice and she grabbed the honey barbeque potato chips to nibble on.  Sometimes, she’s just an eating machine.  She asked if she could have the french onion dip so I got that out and gave her a little dish of it.  It surprised me because she doesn’t usually like onions at all if she can see them.  I caught her dipping her fingers in it and just licking it off them.  I guess she’s changed her mind about that….LOL.

Later on, we made *squamiches*….I don’t know why she can’t seem to say *sandwichs*.  I just put the butter on her bread and she put the turkey and salami on them and carefully tore her lettuce into strips and placed them carefully on it.  She didn’t want me to cut it and showed me how she could hold onto the whole sandwich.  I just had turkey with lettuce and some tomato.  She ate chips with hers.  Me?  I found out I don’t like honey barbeque.  I prefer the regular barbeque.  Chewlee had some cranberry applesauce for her dessert.  Oh, and milk.  Mustn’t forget the milk.  She’s drinking a lot of that lately but it’s good for her.

Dinner came and she wasn’t interested in anything but toast and bacon.  I had made some bacon for BLT’s but she doesn’t like tomatoes.  But she ate the bacon with some lettuce on toast…but I had to butter the toast.  Ack!  No accounting for taste but she didn’t eat it as a sandwich.  She ate it all separately.

In the afternoon, at one point, I was tired and wanted to nap.  When she saw that, she came in and got in the recliner with me and her blankey and we cuddled together.  I doubt either of us slept much but it was a sweet moment.  I know she slept a little bit because I saw that when she wiggled into a more comfortable position.  I think that’s when I fell asleep, too, finally.  We both woke up together and then it was back to her cartoons.  I heard her singing along with the Fresh Beat Band and peeked at her dancing in front of the TV while she sang.  I ducked back in time so she didn’t see me when she was spinning around because I knew if she saw me, she would stop.  If she learns something new, she always runs into my computer room to share it with me.

Later, she and I watched cartoons on my TV while she told what she liked and didn’t like…like thunder.  It was thundering outside and she got upset when the TV lost it’s signal (it’s satellite).  She had to get into my lap because she said thunder scared her.  I told her thunder was caused by two different types of weather fighting.  She seemed surprised that thunder didn’t bother me.  I told her I didn’t like lightning because it always seemed to make the electricity go off.

When it started to rain, she got a bit upset because the cat was out on the deck and it was going to get wet.  I showed her where the cat was hiding, under our barbeque (which looks like a stainless steel stove almost and has a cover over it).  It was underneath and not getting wet at all.  That made her happy but she was happiest when the storm moved off and we got the TV back.

When the Beast got home from Birmingham, he had half a glass of strawberry milk shake left and gave it to Chewlee to finish (she loves strawberry anything…LOL).  Then the poor Beast was just overwhelmed by both Chewlee and Baron, competing to have him play with them.  The Beast said to me, *I come home to two KIDS that need to play!*  She and Baron were both trying to get into his lap at the same time.  The Beast came into the computer room and Chewlee was on his shoe with her arms around his leg and he was dragging her along which made her giggle.  I told you she has a cute little giggle, didn’t I?  I was just glad for the distraction.  We had played guessing games and she had also drawn pictures for her mother, the Princess and I had to critique them for her.  She draws a LOT of hearts of various sizes and then colors them and decorates around them or along their edges.  She also likes to draw butterflies and flowers since she knows butterflies feed on flowers.

Right now the Beast has been in bed for over an hour since he has to get up early again to make the trip to Birmingham.  I only got Chewlee to bed a little bit ago but the whole house is nice and quiet now.  The Princess is going to pick her up around 10am.  Chewlee has packed a bag of her DVD’s up to take home with her.  The only reason I finally got her to go to bed without a fuss is because I told her that her mother is coming to get her in the morning after she wakes up.  She decided she wanted to go to bed so she could wake up early.  HA! HA! HA!  She will have a big surprise if she wakes up TOO early.

Well, I need to get this posted befor the new storm hits us.  I checked the weather channel radar and it’s almost upon us.  Love you all and I apologize for posting this so late.  It’s just tough for me to work on this when she is up.  Be good, have a great Sunday.  I hope to barbeque later in the day if the Beast gets back while it’s still light (he should).  Why not have a pot luck get-together tomorrow with some family and/or friends?  Those are always fun.  Try it!  You’ll be surprised at how interesting those can be even with just hot dogs and hamburgers as the main course.
