How NOT To Update A Blog…LOL
TALES FROM THE BRAT FARM
Bear with me, folks, this computer is not accepting certain commands and it has already thrown me off Xanga once, losing everything I had written. It wouldn’t accept commands on letter size, color or anything. Guess you are stuck with this for the duration.
First of all, an apology. I went to lay down for a much needed nap after being up since 4am to drive to Atlanta for my plane. I did this around 7:30pm and figured I would be down for an hour or two at the most. Plenty of time to do my blog once I woke up. So…..not figuring on the effects of alcohol on the equation, I went down for a nap. When I woke up three hours later, the house was dark and there was only the sound of the television in here, where I had fallen asleep and coming from the Master bedroom (where I know both Cee and Frankenstein often fall asleep with it on). Babybrat was asleep on the couch when I strolled out onto the patio for a cigarette before I was going to start on my blog. WRONG!!!!
I knew that Babybrat had her computer password protected but I was shocked to find out that Cee had now done the same thing to her computer. So there I was, all primed and ready but no way to access a computer without waking someone up. *Sigh* So, no blog. Sorry about that. I just went back to bed.
I did have an interesting night with several trips to the bathroom where I lost about 10 lbs. I figure. Cee just laughed when I brought it up this morning and said, *You didn’t know you were that full of s**t, did you?*
When I arrived in Ft. Lauderale from Atlanta, we were actually early.
I know! Those things don’t usually happen. Too often, it’s the other way around. But, I knew approximately when Cee would be picking me up so I just strolled outside to have a cigarette (or two) and wait. I do have to say one thing about the stroll through the Ft Lauderdale airport. They are expanding and remodeling it and it reminded me of when they were doing the same thing to Midway Airport in Chicago. It was a nightmare once that started to find your way around it and then to find your party that was picking you up. It used to be such a nice, easy to get around airport here but now, talk about deja vu! It is going to be the same nightmare when they get done. It already seems like a small city undergoing some major renovations while hundreds of people are arriving or leaving continuously.
When Cee finally found me later, she had had to make an extra loop once and then got stuck between a Park-and-Ride bus and several cars trying to drop off passengers that were leaving. Once we finally got together (and did the kiss-kiss, hug-hug thing), got the suitcase into the trunk, we took off for lunch. Before Bratfink has a heart-attack, let me assure her that we did NOT have seafood for lunch. This time…hehehe!
Once I got to really get a look at the two of them, I have to say this: Babybrat looks wonderful, especially with the tan she has. She is like a couple others of us in the Brat Fambly. We tan easily and get very dark. It’s nice because we also manage to keep a lot of that color over the winter, too. She looks as healthy as her doctor told her she was at her last appointment. She still has problems with short term memory loss but is on a vitamin B-12 regimen for that. Her doctor gave her a B-12 shot to give her a good start and said it would help both her memory and the neuropathy she has.
She is still using a cane, but this is a single leg one, rather than the four-prong footed one she had. The doctor tol her she didn’t really need it any more but I guess it’s become a security thing with her since she is still a bit afraid of falling. I watched her in the house, though, and realized that she isn’t really using it much at all. Most of the time, it’s not even hitting the floor for a couple steps she takes. Cee and I agreed, she will give it up when she’s ready and feeling secure.
Poor Frankenstein has lost his two partials and Cee is still fuming over that. She thinks he might actually have thrown them down the toilet where he usually throws his used mouthwash. He almost never takes those out and he couldn’t remember where he had put them. She says she tore the house apart, even feeling down into the cracks of his recliner several times. She even found $15 he had lost several weeks before. They tore the bed apart and checked under, around and in the frame. No teeth. So Frankenstein has been stuck drinking his food or gumming it for a couple weeks while Cee is still fuming over it all. He is probably worse with losing things than The Boy even. Although The Boy still holds the record for losing the most remotes.
We stopped and picked up some small bottles of alcohol since they haven’t had any in the house for a while. Cee stopped keeping it because of Frankenstein’s falling and injuring himself and, of course, Babybrat couldn’t drink on her medications. Since Cee wanted the *falling* to stop, she just kept temptations away by not having them in the house. Frankenstein bragged to me that he hadn’t had a drink in 5 months; Cee said he hadn’t fallen in five months either and immediately Frankenstein said it had nothing to do with it but Cee and I just looked at each other and smiled.
Babybrat is a Pepsiholic and got Frankenstein hooked on it too. When my suitcase was put in the trunk, there were about 10-12 packs lining it. They stock up whenever there’s a good sale. Guess they have enough for a while now. Cee said she told them they don’t have to feel disloyal to Coke since we sold our Coke stocks and that I wouldn’t care. When I mentioned it, Cee told me that she had said the same thing and we had a laugh over that.
We ordered a pizza for dinner since we were still kind of full from our late lunch. Then we sat outside just talking and remembering plus catching up on various events with our kids. I told them all about Marcus’s house and how much I liked it. Even the Beast liked it and had told him so. We also talked about Tara and her kids. She thinks I am lucky to be near them all (and I count myself lucky, too). She misses that and would love to be able to be more a part of their lives.
It was about that time that I felt the need for a bit of a nap……and that is how the story ends for the day.
Love you all and hope you had a great day. Be good but try to have some fun. Reporting to you from Ft. Lauderale, FL……….
